Including your iPhone model and iOS version helps me find the problem faster.
How to use
- Play and pause
- Tap the play button. The sound and the picture fade in and out together.
- Change the rain
- Swipe left or right, or tap the three dots near the bottom. Storm Town stays at full storm and can't be changed.
- Change scene and appearance
- Tap the pill at the top to open the panel. Pick a scene (Rain Curtain, Countryside, Moon Pond, Storm Town, Harbor City), the rain intensity, and the appearance (automatic / day / night). Motion and Other Apps’ Audio are under “More Settings” at the bottom of the panel. Drag the panel down to close it.
- Unlock Storm Town and Harbor City
- Tap a locked scene in the panel to preview its picture and sound; the purchase button is right below. It's a one-time purchase that also covers every scene added later, and works with Family Sharing.
- Set a timer
- Hold the play button until it buzzes, then pull up; the higher you pull, the longer it runs, up to 120 minutes. Or let go after the buzz and pick from the menu; choose “No timer” there to clear a timer.
- Paused in the middle of a timer
- Tap the play button again and the timer carries on from where it stopped. To drop the timer, tap “Cancel Timer” next to the play button.
- The controls disappeared
- While playing, the controls hide after 3.5 seconds without a touch. Tap the screen to bring them back. With VoiceOver on, they stay visible.
Common questions
- Does it keep playing when the screen is locked?
- Yes. You can pause and resume from the Lock Screen and Control Center, and see how much time is left on the timer.
- Can it play alongside music or podcasts?
- Yes. Open “More Settings” at the bottom of the panel and set “Other Apps’ Audio” to “Mix”; the rain sits underneath. The trade-off is that the Lock Screen and Control Center show no controls for Tingyu, and the pause button on your headphones won't stop the rain. The default is “On Its Own”: the rain stops when another app starts playing.
- No sound?
- Check the volume first. Tingyu pauses for calls and alarms and usually resumes on its own afterwards; if not, tap play.
- It stopped when I unplugged my headphones.
- That is the iOS convention, so sound never suddenly comes out of the speaker. Tap play to continue.
- Does it use a lot of battery?
- In Low Power Mode, or when the phone is warm, the picture drops its frame rate and draws fewer raindrops. Setting “Motion” to “Reduced” (under “More Settings” in the panel) stops the swaying leaves and the moving light on the water, which saves a little more. If you only want the sound, playing with the screen locked uses the least power.
- I changed phones or reinstalled. How do I get my purchase back?
- Sign in with the Apple Account you bought it with, then tap a locked scene in the panel, or open About, and tap “Restore Purchases”.
- Does it collect my data?
- No. Purchases are handled by the App Store. See the Privacy Policy.
